Main tasks
- Design and engineer composite components for motorsport applications
- Provide technical engineering solutions for lightweight composite problems and designs
- 3D design (surface design) of composite components across multiple vehicle projects, external (bodywork) and internal
- 3D detailed design CAD models and assembly installations plus related 2D technical manufacturing and assembly drawings using Catia V5
- Define joint design, adhesive and fixing strategies
- Generate and define Ply books / laminates with composite and FEA engineers
- Support test and validation of composite components plus support design of any required test jigs and or rigs
- Support vehicle and test car builds and problem solve technical related issues
- Work with suppliers to support tool design, layup optimization and manufacturability of composite components
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical engineering or similar background
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a comparable environment working with high performance parts
- Have a strong composites background with a solid understanding of materials science and mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Good knowledge of CAD (CATIA V5 preferable) and 2D or 3D GD&T technical drawing experience
- Experience and knowledge of surface design is a plus
- Knowledge of PLM System (Windchill preferable)
- Ability to complete tasks with minimal guidance and to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Fluent English is compulsory
